Coaches
Lewisboro Soccer Club is committed to giving our volunteer coaches the training and tools they need to do a great job on the field.  But remember, preparation is the key to making a fun, instructive practice.  See below several tools to help you build a great practice!

Please note, we plan to revise our in-town curriculum this coming Fall, but in the meantime we have several helpful hints to make sure that your 1/2 hour practice (before game time) is filled with game oriented fun.

There is nothing better than 'game' time to make a practice enjoyable.  It keeps the kids moving, gives them important ball skills and creates semi-competitive environments for the kids to learn and explore the game.  Watch what the NOGA trainers do at their practices and clinics, they create environments for the kids to "play".  Let's all try to create a fun practice environment for the kids.  Here are some practice tips to help this Spring:

Planning your Coaching Session 2010

Kindergarten (also works for 1st, 2nd or Older) Game Oriented Practice

1st Grade (works for all ages) Game Oriented Practice

Games and Lessons from WYSL Coaching Certification (3-4 grade & up)

Additionally, below is the complete NOGA curriculum from seasons past to help you build a great practice.

Please find below curriculum for our new certification programs (Level 1, Level 2) as well as the curriculums for all age group divisions.

For the first time, our club is offering coaching certification/training for our younger division coaches (Kindergarten & 1st Grade Divisions) through NOGA, our professional soccer coaching partners.  NOGA will conduct 1/2 hour clinics for the coaches prior to practice/games every Saturday this season.  Please find enclosed the curriculum for this "Level 1 Certification".  We encourage coaches to read this material, print it out, and incorporate these lessons into your practices and games.

The Level 2 certification is offered in two separate two-hour sessions (4 hours total) and all coaches for divisions 2nd grade and up are strongly encouraged to participate in this Level 2 training.  A copy of the curriculum is below.

All participants of Level 1 or Level 2 training will receive a nice gift from the club as well as a certificate from NOGA to demonstrate your commitment to our soccer program.

In addition to our soccer training/certification program, we have NOGA prepared curriculums that are posted through the link below.  We encourage you to use these excellent resources to make sure you are leading strong practices for the kids, filled with fun exercises and drills that encourage ball movement and active participation.

The club is also offering certification for the 2nd, 3-4th, and John Jay Academy (5-8th grade) divisions.  The first coaches training/certification will be held on Saturday, September 13th from 4pm to 6pm at Onatru Park.  A makeup session will be held Saturday, September 20th from 4pm to 6pm at Onatru Park.  All coaches in these divisions are encouraged to attend.  Those who attend this session and the second session (to be held halfway through the season) will receive a nice gift from the club and a certificate for your participation.  Those taking advantage of the NOGA training in the younger divisions as well will receive a gift from the club.

The In-Town Program uses a combination of volunteer coaches and professional training provided by NOGA .  In the Fall of 2008, LSC will be instituting a coaching certification program that will allow our coaches to receive additional instruction from professionals so we can all better lead our young players.

The program cannot function without the help of dedicated qualified volunteers to coach our players. If you are interested in volunteering to coach a team in the In-Town Program, please contact Doug Housman at intown@lewisborosoccerclub.org .
